A website's directory index refers to the page shown whenever a visitor first visits your website. You have full flexibility tuo customise which page should be shown; or whether a list of folders should be displayed.
- Customise the `landing` page shown to visitors when your site is first accessed (for example: /mysite.my). This is great for company branding, and can also be used for SEO reasons (to hide your server-side technology from visitors).
- Customise directory listing options - perfect for `file browser` style websites - where you have a list of accessible files and the user can be prompted for a file to download.
- Protect certain folders by suppressing the default welcome page. This is often used to protect non-browseable publicly-accessible folders.
All directory indexing options can be applied on a per-domain or even a per-folder basis through the FastAdmin Control Panel.
