There are two main types of email mailbox that are commonly used for personal and business use, POP3 and IMAP.

FastVision supports both technologies on all mailboxes, and in turn email clients commonly support these. (eg. Outlook, Entourage for the Mac, Thunderbird)

• POP3 can be used if you wish to download your email from the email server, automatically deleting it from the server and keeping a copy of the email only on your computer.
• IMAP can be used if you wish to store your email on the server, and also download a copy to your computer. Deleting emails from your computer will remove them from the server at the same time. This is commonly used when multiple computers use the same email mailbox or webmail (UniteMail WebMail) is used with a mailbox.
